PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inexpensively provide a passing object passage detector capable of detecting passing direction. SOLUTION: Infrared rays radiated from a passing object A moving on a passage face B are condensed by a condenser lens 3 capable of displaying anisotropic condensing function to the face B and applied to a pyroelectric sensor 2. Since an output change corresponding to the moving direction of the object A is generated in a pyroelectric output S, the output change is detected by a signal processing circuit 4 to judge the moving direction of the passing object A.
