<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance recording density by obtaining a good recording and reproducing characteristic by lowering the floating height of a magnetic head without impairing reliability. SOLUTION: At the time of seek and positioning control of the magnetic head 1 into a target position on a magnetic disk 3 based on a servo data recorded on the magnetic disk 3, the seek direction is decided by a CPU 13 based on positional information showing the present position of the magnetic head 1, detected by a servo data detecting circuit 9 and the target position. Then, when the seek direction is from an inner circumference to an outer circumference in lowering the head floating amt., a measured output of an air pressure sensor 10 is read out through an A/D converter 12, and based on this measured value, one out of target speed tables VT1-VT3 in a ROM 14 is selected, and from this selected table and the number of remaining tracks until the target position, a target seek speed is decided to perform the seek control.</p> |
