PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate occurrence of a long wait time due to temperature control of a fixing device by providing a prescribed 2nd control temperature used to control inhibit/allowance of image forming between setting temperatures of 1st and 2nd modes. SOLUTION: When an operation section 70 changes to a 2nd mode with high density from a 1st mode with a usual pixel density, a CPU 71 controls a fixed temperature control section 37C to switch the setting temperature of a fixing device 37 from a high setting temperature H1 in the 1st mode into a low setting temperature H2 in the 2nd mode. Then sensors SN1, SN2 sense the temperature of the fixing device 37 and when the temperature of the fixing device 37 is higher than a prescribed 2nd control temperature h2, the image forming is controlled to be inhibited. When the temperature of the fixing device 37 is lower than a prescribed 2nd control temperature h2, the image forming is controlled to allowed. Thus, in the case of forming an image at a recording picture element density with high image quality through the picture element density changeover, excellent fixing is conducted without causing a long wait time due to temperature control of the fixing device. |
