An apparatus for taping wires (25) of a wire harness (22) includes first and second tape application heads (14, 16) interconnected together and disposed proximate to a wire guiding mechanism (20). Both of the first and second tape applicatio heads (14, 16) have hollow inner cores (30, 44) which communicate with a source of negative air pressure to draw a vacuum in each tape applicatio head which causes a strip of wire tape (40) to adhere to the outer surfaces (34, 46) of the application heads. One of the application heads is brought into contact with a plurality (23) of wires guided across the head (14), while the second application head (16) rotates around a common axis (17) shared by the two heads, generally oppose each other and apply the strip of tape (40) to the wires (25). <IMAGE> |
