Device for collecting and managing information, for loading by the end-user, by means of direct selection of the desired items from those set out in a list displayed on a mobile medium, of preferred use in restaurants, specifically in the respective lists of dishes and items available. The device is characterized by each list 1 incorporating a keyboard which, in the preferred version, is a keyboard with open contacts displayed in transparent, flexible pockets, as shown in figure 2 in appendix, which keyboard has a contact corresponding to each item, enabling the customer to select the desired items directly, as well as the respective quantity, increasing or decreasing this; by this keyboard being connected to a small local memory 112; by the aforementioned mobile list having I/O devices 114 that enable it to upload the order made by the end- user to a central system 3 and download information from this system specifically related to any individual lack in the supply capacity of certain items; by the information originating from all the lists 1 being centrally processed and the order instructions being sent directly to the product packaging or preparation premises 4 arriving there in separate blocks, where each block relates to a customer or set of customers; by each list further having a display 113 that not only enables the recorded items of the order in progress to be viewed and edited, but also messages originating from the central system to be viewed. <IMAGE> According to the present device, the inter-relationship of the central system with the peripheral lists operates based on a computer program consisting of a communications module communicating with the various lists, including a transmission error detection protocol and resend data request in the event of any error being detected; an accounting and billing module, including the preparation of bills and sending them to the various printers; a module for managing the information relating to the orders, as well as sending this, in blocks, to the kitchen printers; a module for the issue of sales slips and calculating any exchange that may be done in any language or currency, this module being connected to another cash-desk control module, specifically using an RS-232 port, a menu updating module, including the automatic printing of new pages to be inserted in the lists and corresponding updating of the one-to-one relationship between the positioning of the items in the pockets and the corresponding contacts in the various portions of the keyboard included in the said pockets.
