A chuck jaw assembly (12) includes a base (14) and a removable jaw (16). A tongue and groove interconnection (18) is provided between the base (14) and the jaw (16) in the form of a longitudinally tapering dovetail (20, 22). As the tongue (22) is pushed along the groove (20), its sides (34, 36) are tightly wedged within the groove (20). At the same time, the tongue (22) is pulled downwardly into the groove (20) so as to firmly seat the jaw (16) on the base (14). |
