The invention concerns an electromagnetic or electronic switch (11) which switches on and off by means of control signals which are applied thereto and by means of electric consumers (112) which can be connected thereto. The switch (11) cooperates with a microprocessor (110) which generates at least some of the control signals for switching the switch (11). The microprocessor (110) is directly associated with the switch (11) and monitors the electric consumers (112) via sensor devices (111) with respect to predetermined physical parameters, and controls and/or regulates the switch (11) as a function of the parameters determined. The invention further concerns a switch cabinet (10) comprising a plurality of these switches (11).
