Heating melting furnaces

Heating melting furnaces, in particular, glass melting furnaces comprises: (i) using at least one burner (1) with a burner mouth (6) whose flame is directed into the furnace space supplied in an approximately continuous manner with an oxidation gas; (ii) supplying the fuel gas pulsatingly in such a way that mixing ratios alternating below and above the stoichiometric value are present on the flame path from the burner mouth; and (iii) equalising at the same time, the ratio of the total amount of the fuel gas to the amount of oxygen in the oxidation gas taken up by the flame, to approximately the stoichiometric value. Also claimed is an apparatus for implementing the above method.
