<p>PURPOSE:To efficiently purify air by compressing air and also oxidizing carbon monoxide and hydrogen in the compressed air while utilizing a catalyst. CONSTITUTION:The air for a raw material is compressed at the pressure necessary for the liquefying and rectifying stages by an air compressor 1. This air is supplied to a catalyst tower 2 packed with a catalyst for oxidizing reaction such as platinum and palladium as the heated compressed air. Therein carbon monoxide and hydrogen in the air are oxidized by oxygen in the air and carbon dioxide and water are produced respectively. The air for the raw material discharged from the catalyst tower 2 is cooled close to ordinary temp. by a cooler 3 and free water is separated and removed in a separation tower 4. Molecular sieve and alumina, etc., for adsorbing carbon dioxide and water are packed in the adsorption towers 5. Thereby the need at heating energy is eliminated and the cost of equipment can be reduced.</p> |
