Automatic sorting and packaging assembly for rolling products

An automatic mechanical handling system with integrated process control receives rolling products (1) along an inlet ramp (4), and releases (16,17) them individually as required to a conveyor belt (14). The belt transports the products past other inlet ramps, from which other rolling products are introduced as required, to (15,19) packaging machinery (13). The assembly checks to confirm that space is available on the conveyor before admitting further products. Products which arrive at the packaging station and are not then packed, are transferred to a conveyor (3) running in the reverse direction and returned (26) to the appropriate buffer stock (8) and repeat the cycle.
