A loading assembly raises and lowers heavy goods, and slides them in and out of esp. estate cars and small delivery vehicles (1). The assembly has rails (3) resting in the vehicle on the load platform and holding a telescopic load-bearing extension (4), as the load moves in or out of the vehicle load-platform (2) on rollers (5). The load is raised from floor-level to the loading plane by a hand winch-operated (33) scissor-jack (17), additional support being provided between the jack and the vehicle by a height-adjustable safety-prop (11).
