A preferred form of the invention comprises a connector (1) for use as part of a children's toy construction set. The connector is formed from an elastomeric material such as ethylene vinyl acetate, low density polyethylene, polyurethane or foam rubber. The connector (1) is circular and has a central aperture (2) extending therethrough for receiving a rod (3). The aperture (2) is slightly smaller in diameter than that of the rod (3), and this, together with the elastomeric quality of the connector, enables the connector to fit tightly against the rod. The connector can be used for preventing other parts (4 and 5) of the set from sliding off the rod (3). Another form of the invention comprises a gear wheel for the toy constructional set. The gear wheel is formed from an elastomeric material such that when two such gear wells mesh a child's finger can pass between the meshing gear wheels without injury.
