PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To impart a sense of depth to a game screen to increase in-game reality by providing each block with a three-dimensional effect. SOLUTION: In a game machine, blocks 6 that appear one by one at the top of a display area 2 are changed in the direction in which they fall and in their orientation under control of the player as they drop toward the bottom of the display area, and are piled up at the bottom of the display area 2 and, when complete layers are formed, a predetermined number of lines 25 of blocks are eliminated. Image information about the blocks 6, 25 is split into surface, three-dimensional, and shadow parts, image information about the surfaces of the blocks 25 piled up is stored in a first memory, image information about the surface part 48, three-dimensional part 49, and shadow part 50 of each block 6 falling to the bottom of the display area is stored in a second memory, and image information about the shadow parts of the blocks 25 piled up is stored in a third memory. These three screens are displayed simultaneously on the screen, showing the falling blocks 6 and the accumulated lines 25 three- dimensionally and imparting a sense of depth to the game. |
