A self-elevating platform construction consisting of first (3) and second (4) vertical masts each provided with a rack (13), first (14) and second (15) carriages movable along the first and second masts respectively, and each provided with a gear (26) rotated by a motor and meshing with the mast rack (13), as well as a support for a platform (16) borne on supporting shafts (32) of said first and second carriages (14, 15) and extending between said first and second masts (3, 4). The construction is characterised in that the platform (16) is rigid and in that the supports (32) of the first and second carriages (14, 15) comprise shafts (32) perpendicular to the rack (13) of the first and second masts (3, 4), respectively. Said construction is mainly suitable for building construction and renovation.
