PURPOSE: To produce a polyester yarn which is densely dyed and, at the same time, satisfying the requirements of high strength and high modulus of elasticity by drawing a polyester yarn in a low-temperature plasma atmosphere after dyeing it in dense colors. CONSTITUTION: A multifilament yarn of polyester fibers is densely dyed in a cheese-state or a hank-state. Subsequently, the dyed yarn is subjected to drawing in a low-temperature plasma atmosphere generated in a reduced- pressure container containing a non-polymerizable gas such as argon or a polymerizable gas such as a fluorine-containing gas by glow discharge to increase the strength and modulus of elasticity. By using some kind of gas, the yarn is also imparted with soil-proofness and hygroscopicity by the treatment. |
