The electronic water level gauge consists of a box made from plastic material (1) with a switch (2) and two types of electrode (3,4) projecting from the box. Within the box there is a sound source (5) and a light indicator (6), as well as a battery (7) and an electronic circuit (8). An eyelet is provided on the outside of the casing for use when the gauge is used in its inverted position. The gauge is sensitive to the presence of water making an electrical connection between two of its electrodes. Theses are either two legs hooked over the side of a container, or two wires in an extended probe reaching down into a container.
