The snowmobile (1) has a front steering assembly (2) pivoted about an axis (XX') on a rear carrying assembly (100). At the upper end of the steering assembly is a handlebar (9) fixed to a steering column (10). At its lower end a ski (11) is pivoted about a transverse axis (YY') on a lower retaining system (14) able to be displaced upwards against a spring. The parts (13,14) forming the retaining assembly (12) are provided with a slidably mounted traction rod (17) connecting the ski front portion (18) to the upper retaining part (13). The traction rod is connected to slide (20,21) in the upper retainer. A stop (22,200) limits the downward sliding and an adjuster allows modification of the traction rod length.
