Cyanide removal from process water

A process and device are disclosed for removing cyanide from process water from the foodstuff industry. The process water is recirculated and cyanide is continuously stripped from the process water in a stripping column (3). In a second stage, the cyanide contained in the stripping gas is destroyed by oxidation. Process water to be disposed of can be further purified by pursuing the stripping process in order to conform to permissible limit values.
