PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify operations for range designation clue to the flow of sentence and range designation due to a rectangle by providing respectively specified detecting and discriminating means. SOLUTION: A central processing unit(CPU) 1 is connected with various devices through a bus line(BL) 6 and controls them. A keyboard(KB) 2 has keys for the input and control processing of general characters or graphics. These keys include a cursor move key for designating any position through a cursor or a range key (HKEY) for instructing the execution of range designation, etc. In order to store that the range key HKEY is operated for designating the leading position of the range and the 1st operation of the range key is performed, the CPU 1 sets a range flag HFLG to '1'. Next, when the moving direction of cursor KSL to be used for designating the range is lateral, the mode of range designation clue to the flow of sentence is automatically discriminated by the CPU 1 but when that direction is longitudinal, the mode of range designation due to the rectangle is automatically discriminated by the CPU 1. |
