SOLUTION: When a coating material in a coating vessel is continuously applied to a continuously sent steel strip, the wt. of the coating material in a coating tank communicating with the coating vessel is sampled at predetermined sampling time and the coating amt. to the steel strip is calculated from the wt. of the sampled coating material. In this coating amt. measuring method, the average value Di of a unit of a predetermined sampling number (n) (=8) at every sampling timeΔt is calculated and the coating amt. is calculated on the basis of the difference between the average value Di and an average value Di+4 calculated when a predetermined time interval (Δt.m) is shifted from the measuring time of the average value.
