PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a water-based ink for ink jet recording, comprising a dye and a specific surface tension regulator, good in ink throughput, capable of providing an image having a high printing density and excellent in water resistance and preventing properties for bleeding and clogging. SOLUTION: This water-based ink for ink jet recording comprises (A) a dye (e.g. the one sealed in a polyester suspension) and (B) a compound of formula I [R1 to R4 are each a 1-10C alkyl or and aryl; R5 and R6 are each R1 , OH, amino, carboxyl or epoxy; (m) and (n) are each 0-1000]. The ink is obtained by dissolving a polyester, prepared by cocondension, e.g. a diol component of formula II R is ethylene group or propylene group; (x) and (y) are each >=1 and [(x)+(y)] is an average value and 2-7} with an acidic component which is a polyvalent carboxylic acid, its acid anhydride or a lower alkyl ester thereof and having 3-70KOHmg/g together with the dye in a solvent, ionizing the carboxyl in the polyester with a neutralizing agent, then adding an aqueous solution of the component (B) thereto, distilling away the solvent, causing the phase inversion and providing a water dispersion. |
