摘要 The present invention provides a simple, cost-effective method, and kit, for enriching one or more target cells from a mixed cell population. According to the invention, target cells are detected by a detecting agent which attaches to an intracellular constituent of the target cell, for example, a nucleic acid, peptide, protein, etc., in the cytoplasm underlying the outer cell membrane or outer cell wall. The detected cells are then concentrated from the mixed population of cells using a solid phase support system which may include an immunoaffinity or immunomagnetic system. The enriched cells may then be identified and visualized using an identifying agent and a signal generating system. The present invention also provides a method for increasing the sensitivity of the enrichment of cells from a mixed population of cells by amplifying a selected intracellular constituent of the target cell prior to enrichment.
