<p>A process for producing cis-1-amino-2-indanol which comprises converting (±)indane-1,2-diol and/or its 2-formate derivative into optically active 2-hydroxy-1-indanone by the action of a specific microorganism, converting the optically active 2-hydroxy-1-indanone into an oxime, and then reacting the oxime with hydrogen or a hydrogen donor in the presence of a heterogeneous hydrogenation catalyst; a process for producing optically active 2-hydroxy-1-indanone and/or optically active indane-1,2-diol which comprises converting (±)indane-1,2-diol and/or its 2-formate derivative into the target compound(s) by the action of a specific microorganism; and a process for producing cis-1-amino-2-indanol which comprises reacting an oxime of 2-hydroxy-1-indanone with hydrogen or a hydrogen donor in the presence of a heterogeneous hydrogenation catalyst.</p> |
