<p>This invention is a process for the selective and high yield preparation of 1,1-difluoroethane (CHF2-CH3, HFC-152a) from chloroethene while minimizing formation of oligomeric and polymeric byproducts. This process comprises providing a liquid phase mixture containing chloroethene, HF, a tin catalyst, and one or a combination of compounds from the families of oxygen, nitrogen, and phosphorus-containing organic compounds, heating the mixture, and isolating the HFC-152a formed.</p> |
