<p>PURPOSE:To obtain a large amount of a root-like tissue of a plant belonging to Panax genus in a short time, by subjecting an adventitious embryo of the plant to a specific liquid culture as it is or after thickening or proliferation. CONSTITUTION:An adventitious embryo of a plant belonging to Panax genus is produced by culturing a tissue piece of the plant such as root, flower bud, etc., in a medium such as Murashige-Skoog medium containing sucrose as a carbon source and containing 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid, etc. The obtained adventitious embryo is cultured in a liquid medium containing naphthaleneacetic acid and benzyladenine to obtain a thickened adventitious embryo, which is, as necessary, divided or cut into a proper size and at least one of the piece is subjected to the culture in a liquid medium to obtain a secondary adventitious embryo by the culture. The above process is carried out at least once in subcultural manner. The obtained callus of cell having adventitious embryo is subjected to shake culture in liquid to obtain a root-like tissue. A substitute having the shape, size, composition, etc., same as those of the rhizome of natural Panax ginseng for medical use can be produced by this process in large amount in a short time.</p> |
