PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce the above new compounds useful as a building block agent, etc., by passing a specific ketone through a step for reduction in an organic solvent with a metallic hydride. SOLUTION: The anti-(2S,3S)-2-hydroxy-3-methoxy-1,1,1-trifluoro-terminated ethoxyalkane of formula I [(m) is 3-6], syn-(2S,3R)-2-hydroxy-3methoxy-1,1,1- trifluoro-terminated ethoxyalkane of formula II, etc. The compounds are obtained by reducing (S)-1-hydroxy-2,2,2-trifluoroethyl-terminated ethoxyalkyl ketone of formula II with a metallic hydride in an organic solvent, reacting the resultant diol derivative with an alkali metallic hydride, further reacting the prepared reactional product with acetyl chloride, then reacting the resultant O-acetylated derivative with the alkali metallic hydride, subsequently reacting the prepared reactional product with methyl iodide, then hydrolyzing the formed O-methylated derivative with an alkali and separating and collecting the objective compounds from the resultant diastereomeric mixture. |
