<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a varnish composition used for printing inks, capable of preventing emulsion troubles on continuous printing operations, capable of eliminating the staining of a ground to be printed, and excellent in water width suitability and printing stability by modifying the residual carboxyl groups of a resin for the printing ink with a glycidyl group-containing monomer. SOLUTION: The residual carboxyl groups of a resin, such as a rosin-modified phenollc resin, for printing inks are modified with one or more kinds of glycidyl group-containing monomers selected from the group consisting of glycidyl ether monomers, glycidyl ester monomers and glycidyl amine monomers. The varnish composition is preferably used to produce printing ink compositions.</p> |
