PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject material excellent in aesthetic appearance, high in biological safety, and difficult in the adhesion of a smell by mixing a thermoplastic resin such as a polycarbonate with specific heat-resistant fibers high in compatibility and wettability with the thermoplastic resin and capable of being bound to each other. SOLUTION: A polycarbonate of formula I or an amorphous thermoplastic resin such as a polysulfone or a polyethersulfone is mixed with the colored fibers of a polyarylate of formula II. Namely, the polyarylate fibers are colored with a heat-resistant red or violet dyestuff or pigment not discolored at a temperature of >=300 deg.C, the molding temperature of a thermoplastic resin, etc., before or after the fibers are spun, cut into a short length and subsequently mixed with the thermoplastic resin in a prescribed ratio. The dental material can realize a natural color tone similar to the color of a gum without deteriorating the excellent original physical and chemical properties of the thermoplastic resin. Since the polyarylate fibers have excellent mechanical strengths, the polyarylate fibers can also be used as a reinforcing material for reinforcing the thermoplastic resin, and further enables to omit the compounding of other reinforcing materials.
|
