PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface coated cemented carbide cutting tool excellent in pitching resistance. SOLUTION: This cutting tool is constituted so that a hard coating layer composed of an inside layer composed of one kind of single layer or two or more kinds of plural layers among a TiC layer, a TiN layer and a TiCN layer, an intermediate layer composed of a TiCO layer and/or a TiCNO layer and an outside layer composed of Al2 O3 is formed in an average layer thickness of 5 to 20μm on a surface of a WC group cemented carbide base body. In this case, an interface part with an Al2 O3 layer in the intermediate layer is formed as a sharpened needle crystal structure.
