PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To minimize the necessary memory capacity and also to increase the processing speed of a data generation device when a pattern cell is pasted in a prescribed paint area and this area is painted out in a fixed pattern. SOLUTION: A paint area is divided into blocks E1, E2 and E3, and the square division pattern planes Pp 1, Pp 2 and Pp 3 are set to contain the blocks E1 to E3 respectively. Then, a pattern cell C is pasted into the planePp 1, and this plane Pp 1 is put on the corresponding paint area. This overlapping result is written in a frame butter as the 1st paste-in data Pp 1.
