There is provided a wiring and wireless modem interface unit for a portable terminal. The interface unit includes: an analog interface circuit connected to a soft modem, for converting a transmitted or received data into a type of signal capable of processing; a wiring interface part connected to PSTN; a wireless interface part whose one sided signal receiving or transmitting terminal is connected to the analog interface circuit and the other sided signal receiving or transmitting terminal is connected to a cellular phone, to thereby be connected to an analog cellular network; and an audio signal processing part connected to the soft modem, for compressing or extending a transmitted or received signal.
