Video text recording method

The recording method uses a bandpass filter (37) for extracting the colour carrier frequency components from the colour television signals, before conversion into a lower frequency range. A low pass filter (32) is required for extraction of the luminance signal components, fed to a FM modulator (35) via a pre- emphasis stage (33,34). The pre-emphasis phase can be bypassed and the video text signals are frequency modulated differently, so that they lie in a carrier amplitude range which is different to the carrier amplitude range of the frequency modulated luminance signals, when recording the VHS signals.
