摘要 926,503. Grinding. ETUDE ET REALISATION D'OMNIS PRECISION "E.R.O.P." C. L. GODAR. June 1, 1960 [June 5, 1959], No. 19355/60. Class 60. A grinding machine which is adaptable from a basic invariable construction to provide a variety of types comprises a fixed block 2, Fig. 1, mounted on a base 1 and supporting a longitudinally-movable table 3, a block 6 movable in the base transversely to the movement of the table and supporting a vertically movable spindle-carrying upright 7 adapted to receive any one of a plurality of interchangeable machining heads arranged to be set or adjusted to different angular positions, the fixed block having assembled thereon control members, which may be manually or automatically operated at will, controlling the movements of the table 3, block 6 and upright 7 in the three dimensions. The table 3 may be moved by a control member consisting of a handle connected by gearing to a rack on the table or by an hydraulic system having means to reverse the table at the end of its stroke, a clutch being provided to disconnect the handle from the table when the hydraulic system is operated. Movement of the block 6 is effected by a second hand wheel on the block connected by gearing to a screw engaging a nut secured to the block and a clutch is provided to disconnect the hand wheel from the block and to connect a motor to the screw for automatic operation; the motor may be operated continuously or intermittently by switches co-operating with the movement of the table to effect an incremental feed movement of the block. A third control handle 38, Fig. 6, in the block 2 is connected by bevel gearing 36, 37 to a shaft 35 joined by a splined coupling 34 to a shaft 33 having a gear 31 engaging a gear 32 on a shaft 29 in threaded engagement with a nut 27 mounted in the upright 7. The handle can be disconnected from the shaft 35 by a clutch 41 to enable automatic movement of the upright by a motor 39 connected by gears 40 to the shaft 35. The upright is formed with a bore 9 to receive the tubular mounting members 10, Fig. 8, of the various grinding heads, the heads being secured by a screw-operated clamp 11. In a non-adjustable type of head, the member 10 is provided with bearings 138, 139 supporting a spindle 131, at one end, carrying a grinding wheel 163 and, at the other end, a pulley 133 driven by a belt from a motor mounted on a hinged support on the upright. A guard 144 is provided and a plug 142 permits lubricant to be supplied to the bearings. In an alternative non- adjustable type of head, the spindle of the grinding wheel is connected by a flexible coupling to an electric motor mounted on the member 10. An angularly adjustable head may be mounted in the bore 9 consisting of a mounting member 10, Fig. 10, which supports a housing 100 carrying the stator 101<2> of an electric motor 101 having its rotor 101<1> mounted on a spindle 102 perpendicular to the axis of the member 10. The lower end of the spindle carries a grinding wheel consisting of a plurality of segments 109 secured to a hub by wedges 110 and balanced by weights 111 adjustably mounted in a dovetailed groove 112. The lower end of the spindle is supported in a thrust bearing 104 and the upper end has a bearing 105 and a sleeve 106 pressed upwardly by springs 107 to take-up play in the bearings. Coolant is supplied from a cock 114 through a bore in the spindle to a diffuser 115 and the grinding segments 109. A scale 65 is provided to enable the angle of the head to be determined. A universally adjustable head for the upright has a spindle 15, Figs. 15, 16, for the grinding wheel 60 mounted in one or other of a pair of bores 58 in a housing 13, and is driven by a belt 53 from an electric motor 50 mounted in the housing 13 which is adjustable about an axis perpendicular to the axis of the mounting member 10 in a yoke 14 by a handle 62, a clamp 63 securing the housing in its adjusted position. Scales are provided to determine the angular position of the housing relative to the yoke and of the yoke relative to the upright.
