Panoramic dental X=ray imaging instrument

The X-ray system consists of a source (2) for generating a wide X-ray beam and a detection system (3), and can be rotated about a subject (1) to be irradiated. Tomographic images in several planes through the subject are stored by a frame store and processed by an image processing system. Several images are processed by Fast Fourier Transform techniques to remove blurring. Deblurred images from several planes are added to obtain a combined tomographic image with greater sharpness and lower noise level.
