PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high tension wire for direct current which is excellent in heat aging resistant characteristics and does not deteriorate initial breakdown voltage, by adding polyolefin grafted with a polar molecule to polyethylene to form an insulation layer and then cross-linking it by means of electron beam irradiation. SOLUTION: As an insulation layer 2 of a high tension wire for direct current, a resin composition is used, which comprizes polyethylene to which polyolefin grafted with a polar molecule is added, where the polar molecule is a polyethylene glycol, and the polyethylene is an ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer. As a sheath layer 3, a flame retardant resin composition is used which mainly comprizses a polyolefin resin grafted with polyvinyl chloride. As a conductor 1, a solid wire or a strand is used, which comprizes a copper wire or a plated wire plated with tin or the like as an outer layer. High reliability is provided in regard to a long term use, because an initial breakdown voltage is not lowered by electron beam irradiation. |
