A seal (4) for a rolling bearing comprises a synthetic rubber seal member (6) which is coated with a surface-active material (7) such as a fatty acid soap. The coating resists the tendency of stacked seals to stick together prior to assembly, and is less volatile than the silicon oil used on prior art seals. The seal member may be moulded on to an annular metal core (5).
