<p>A process for reducing the ash content of fiber while simultaneously removing ink from the fiber comprising the steps of: (a) forming a slurry by pulping paper containing inks in an aqueous medium including one or more nonionic surfactants; and (b) subjecting the slurry produced in step (a) to a flotation cell having an aqueous medium, wherein the nonionic surfactant is selected to reduce the ash content by at least fifty percent of its original amount is provided.</p> |
