PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent data communication from being stopped between optical transmission lines so long as a problem such as a broken optical fiber is not caused by revising a transmission level so as to make automatic tentative recovering. SOLUTION: Upon the receipt of data sent from a host device 3 connecting to an optical transmitter 1, the lighting of a light emitting element such as a light emitting diode provided to a transmission section 14 is controlled based on a transmission level set in a transmission level revision circuit 14a to send data. A light receiving element provided on a reception section 15 of other transmitter 1 receives the light to detect the transmission data, which are sent to a host device 3. The device 3 processes the data to control the entire operation of the system. Furthermore, the transmitter 1 lights the light emitting element of the transmission section at a prescribed time interval depending on the transmission level in the transmitter 1 even when no transmission data are in existence. The transmitter 1 having the reception section calculates an attenuation from the transmission level and the received level and displays (16) the result to report the state of the system to a maintenance personnel and is automatically restored. |
