<p>A multifunction tool using interchangeable bits (12) and comprising a bit holder (21) secured to the end of an extension (22) that is inseparable from the tool and slidable within a body (1), with means (8, 10) for locking the cylindrical extension (22) in the extended and retracted positions. Said tool includes a flexible portion (10) secured to the hollow open end (5) of said body (1) for holding the extension (2) in the retracted position by mutual friction, and a retractable means such as a pivotable catch (8) provided in a housing (14) at the opposite end of the extension (22) from the bit holder (21). The retractable means (8) fits entirely within the housing (14) in the retracted position and projects sideways from the extension (22) in the extended position so that it engages the edge (15) of the hollow open end (5) of said body (1). The tool is useful mainly in the field of multi-bit screwdrivers.</p> |
