PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a tension member useful for various belts by pulling and properly arranging plural glass fibers, immersing them in a specific adhesive solution, subjecting the glass fibers to a heat treatment and applying twist in one direction to widely improve water-proof bending running performance of a belt without losing adhesiveness of the fibers even in the presence of water. SOLUTION: Plural glass fibers 6 are pulled and properly arranged, immersed in a bonding treatment solution mainly containing a mixture of an initial condensate of resorcinol and formalin with a latex, pulled up from the solution and subjected to a heat treatment. Subsequently, the glass fibers are twisted in one direction. Further, it is preferable that plural bundles of glass fibers are collected and primary twist is applied on them to prepare a primary twist yarn 8, and e.g. a styrene-butadiene-vinylpyridine three dimensional copolymer is used as the latex. |
