CARRIED CHITOSAN

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the productivity of carried chitosan on an industrial scale and enable chitosan to be carried by a porous or nonporous substrate by causing the outer surface of an alkaline substrate to carry the chitosan. SOLUTION: The outer surface of an alkaline substrate which has a particle size of 1-3μm and of which at least a part of the surface is alkaline is caused to carry 0.1-60wt.% chitosan by mixing an acidic aq. soln. of chitosan with the substrate or by applying or spraying an acidic aq. soln. of the chitosan to the surface of the substrate followed by drying.
