PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a treating method capable of reducing an amount of sulfur oxide released from the stack in an incinerator to the air and lightening a device load of a tail gas treater without supplying the air containing hydrogen sulfide extracted from a pit storing the product liquid sulfur in a Claus-type sulfur recovery apparatus into the incinerator of the tail gas treater. SOLUTION: This treating method of sulfur pit gas comprises extracting air containing hydrogen sulfide by a steam ejector (E-1) through a suction pipe (L-2) communicating with a pit storing liquid sulfur and supplying the air into a combustion chamber in a reaction furnace (F-1) of a sulfur recovery apparatus through a feed pipe (L-3) to obtain a raw material gas of the Claus reaction in treating an air containing hydrogen sulfide extracted from a pit (S-1) storing the product liquid sulfur, in a Claus-type sulfur recovery apparatus generating element sulfur by using hydrogen sulfide as a raw material.
