At the forward end of the platform load surface is a portion extending upwards at 90 degrees to it and with a hook for engagement with a travel chassis. The surface accommodates bins with loading hatches for refuse or raw materials. Positions on the surface accommodate bins (10) back-to-back, adjacent ones being separated by a central stop rail (5) at right angles to the forward end portion (4). Along each side of the surface are hinging angle-section bars forming enclosing stops. The loading hatch of each bin is covered by a hinging lid (14), which can be attached to the rearmost wall of the bin. The stop bars can hinge via lengthwise axes on the side edges of the load surface.
