PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain the adjustment of printable density by retrieving an output job with queuing based on the information transferred from an output device and carrying out another output job when a sufficient recording agent is not available for execution of the retrieved output job. SOLUTION: A printer 1000 sends the print sheet number information, the toner capacity, etc., back to a host computer in response to a toner status request given from a host computer 3000. If a toner remaining amount sensor contained in a toner cartridge 20 detects a toner amount smaller than the prescribed value, a CPU12 calculates a mean toner consumption value per page and stores this calculation result in a nonvolatile memory 22. The computer 3000 refers to the next job included in a print queue to decide whether an amount of toner sufficient to print the job remains or not. If remains, the computer 3000 adjusts the toner density and transfers the data to the printer 1000 to print them there. Then this print job is deleted out of the print queue and a print job control table. |
