The braking device (21) uses a bypass line (23) connected across an exhaust gas blocking device (22) inserted in the exhaust gas line (16) from the engine, in front of the turbine (18) for the engine turbocharger (13). The outlet of the bypass line is positioned in the vicinity of the turbine wheel (28). The air quantity fed along the bypass line is fed to a flow channel (17) for the turbine wheel via at least one jet opening.
