PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the detection precision of a movement distance by detecting the movement distance from the outflow of ink. SOLUTION: Acceleration sensors 1 and 2 detect acceleration in two directions crossing the pen axis of the pen type coordinate input device at right angles. A movement direction detecting means detects the movement direction of the pen type coordinate input device on a writing plane from the values of acceleration in the two directions that the acceleration sensors have detected. A flow rate detecting means 3 detects the outflow of ink from the pen tip part 7. A movement quantity detecting means detects the movement quantity of the pen type coordinate input device on the writing plane from the outflow of ink detected by the flow rate detecting means 3 and accurately detects the movement direction and movement quantity.
