摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a positive electrode for an alkaline storage battery which can excellently hold electric conductivity and has an excellent charge-discharge characteristic over a long period of time by covering a surface of scale-shaped graphite powder with a porous layer composed of an aluminium oxide particle layer whose crystal structure is a prescribed shape, and forming it as a conductive agent for the positive electrode. SOLUTION: A positive electrode for an alkaline storage battery is formed by painting a mixed substance, by adding a conductive agent to this by using nickel hydoxide powder as a main component, on a porous core material or the like, and the conductive agent is composed of graphite powder. Scale-shape graphiter powder is used as this graphite powder, and the conductive agent is formed by covering this surface with a porous layer composed of a aluminium oxide particle layer whose crystal structure is an α shape and alkaline resistance is high. Then, a long service life alkaline storage battery which can excellently hold electric conductivity of the whole postive electrode and has an excellent charge-discharge characteristic over a long period of time, can be formed.
