An item of footwear such as an in-line skate consisting of an outer sole (3) designed to be secured to the upper plate of a frame to which rollers are attached. An upper (7) extending from the sole (3) covers the skater's foot and extends towards the skater's ankle. Said upper (7) consists of a first portion (14) made of a relatively rigid material and integral with the sole (3), whereby said first portion forms a lower shell with an upper longitudinal opening (15) extending from a raised area (16) forming a rear counter to a point adjacent to the opposite end (17); and a second portion (18) forming a foxing made of a relatively flexible material and attached to the edge of the longitudinal opening (15) of the lower shell (14) so that it covers the front part of the foot and forms the upper (7) of the boot (2) together with said lower shell (14). |
