Stabilizing agent for the hydrogen peroxide in a stainless steel pickling bath, pickling bath and process A stabilizing agent capable of stabilizing the hydrogen peroxide in a stainless steel pickling bath, comprising a sulfoalcoholic solution of acetanilide and benzoic acid in an acetanilide:benzoic acid ratio of between 1:1 and 4:1 by weight. The pickling bath contains HF, Fe3+ ions, hydrogen peroxide and the said stabiliser, with an H2O2:stabilizer ratio of between 1:1 and 1:2.5 by volume. The process for pickling the stainless steel comprises immersing the steel part requiring pickling into the said pickling bath. This invention has application in the iron and steel industry. <IMAGE>
