Optical code reader for moving film

The apparatus for holding the roll of photographic film (12) includes a first frame with parallel edge guides. Each guide has a contact face for gripping the edge of the film. Each contact face has a curved region in the middle. A second frame (70) supports first and second film deflection elements. Further components (74,96) enable the relative positioning of the first and second frames. The deflection elements engage on opposite sides of the middle regions of the contact faces to deflect the roll of film. The positioning components is adjusted to accommodate different types of film.
